Story and Photos by Bill “Hot Rod” Lemon
B & N Hotrod & Fabrication
“Let’s Get Hammered.” Now that statement conjures up all kinds of ideas, especially when it comes to Hot Rods and Hot Rodders. In simple terms, hammering a Coupe or Sedan has nothing to do with drinking, but instead refers to the fact that while gas welding, the welder will reach for his hammer and dolly, and while the metal and the weld are still red hot, he will then attempt to work the weld and surrounding area of the metal to shape and finish his work. On the other hand, wire feed welding makes the metal so hard there’s no chance of using a hammer and dolly, so you may as well reach for the grinder to shape things. Pushing on, we will show some of the welds in photos and the steps it takes to bring this Coupe back together!
