A Sign of Good Things to Come for CanadaIf you are like me, you are ecstatic at the prospect of things getting back to some sort of normality. The past three years can only be described as a complete downer for most. We have witnessed many product manufacturers and local shops fall by the wayside over this time period, along with the dreams of those who were behind these ventures.
With this in mind, we headed down to the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas not sure what to expect. Over the past few years, the mood in the Truck & Off-Road section in the South Hall of the show had been pessimistic at best, but leaning more towards depressing.
Right from the time we entered the show on day one, you could tell things were different this year. It’s funny that with all the technology we enjoy in the world today, we can still sense what’s going on by the vibe from the crowd. Let me tell you, our initial senses were definitely correct…at least from a Canadian perspective.
Booth after booth, we heard that the U.S. market was nicely on the rebound, but Canada was off the charts! One company told us that their sales were up 63 percent in the Canadian market over the past year. This is great news for us north of the border, as companies now see us as an important individual market…not just an extension of the U.S. With that, companies such as Aries Automotive have begun producing products like their Canadian Deluxe line of steps that are tailor made with this marketplace in mind.
The more companies realize this market is a unique one, the better it will be for everyone.
I would like to thank all of the readers and advertisers for your continued support of the magazine and wish all the best to you and your families over the holiday season!
