New for 2017: The entire Lexus RC series remains relatively unchanged from 2016 models.

Segment Competitors: BMW 4-Series, Audi A5, Infiniti Q60, Cadillac ATS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Kia Stinger

The Skinny: The Lexus RC 300 returns for 2017 and acts as the entry level for the RC coupes behind the RC 350 and RC F. The RC 300 boasts head-turning, performance-inspired looks but unfortunately falls somewhat short in the performance category as the 255 horsepower featured just doesn’t seem like quite enough for a vehicle with these looks. In saying that however, the RC 300 provides a smooth ride with a luxurious interior and despite lacking power is still fun to drive.

Pros: The RC 300 is very easy on the eyes both inside and out and we like that all-wheel drive comes standard.  The extra goodies added with our tester’s F Sport Package are also very appreciated.

Cons: The backseat is mostly useless, the infotainment systems touch pad is frustrating to use, and as previously mentioned power is very lacking.

The Verdict: The RC 300 is a very good car if performance is low on your list of must have’s. If it’s a bit higher on your list, perhaps you’d be better served checking out the RC 350 which is essentially the same car but pushes out 62 more horsepower than the 300.
