Porsche Mission E Concept Set to Begin Production Next Year as the Porsche Taycan
Porsche have announced that the Mission E all-electric concept is set to go into production next year with its official name: Taycan. The Taycan will be the first purely all-electric Porsche and its name can be translated as “lively young horse” which of course references the image of the leaping horse used in the Porsche logo since 1952. The Taycan was announced as part of the recent “70 Years of Porsche Sports Cars” ceremony and features two permanently activated synchronous motors that generate a system output of over 600 horsepower. This allows the car to go from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in well under 3.5 seconds and to 200 km/h in less than twelve seconds. The Taycan will offer a consistent level of power that will allow multiple launches in a row without a loss in performance and the range of the vehicle will be over 482 km. Also announced by Porsche is the company’s plans to invest more than six billion Euros in electromobility by 2022, 500 million Euros of which will be used for the development of Taycan variants and derivatives. Additionally, one billion Euros of the allotted six will be used for the electrification and hybridization of the existing product range with a 700 million going towards developing technologies, charging infrastructure and smart mobility. More information will come out between now and the beginning of production for the Taycan and we will be sure to keep you informed as the info comes out.
