While the popular line of Ram pickups could probably have gotten by without doing much for 2020, as they seem to be ticking all the right boxes these days, the manufacturer obviously understands this is a competitive market and in light of GM having released new versions of its Sierra and Silverado HD pickups, and with Ford about to do so right around the corner, Ram was loathe to sit idly by.
First Look – The 2020 GM HD and Ford HD Trucks take an early bow
The fierce competition between the pickup manufacturers regularly witnessed in Half-ton advertising is quickly spilling into the Heavy Duty truck segment following the newest Ram HD being introduced as a 2019 model. Not long ago, model updates were most often singular events, with each brand following its own engineering schedule. Not anymore. The recent Ram release quickly brought news from GM (Chevy and GMC) and Ford.
The Benchmark – 2019 Ram HD
The pickup wars appear to be at an all-time high as evidenced by continually strong sales numbers and the constant innovation and improvements being made by each one of Detroit’s Big 3. With each of GM, Ford and Ram due for either a full redesign or facelift of their heavy-duty models in 2019-2020, the battle is only set to intensify.
