2018 Nissan LEAF Makes North American Debut

The 2018 Nissan LEAF has been officially unveiled here in North American at a recent media event in Las Vegas, Nevada and with it comes a new aerodynamic exterior design that follows the company’s design language, as well as an extended range and a plethora of new technology features.

The new LEAF features a 241km driving range from its new e-powertrain that is also rated at 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Along with the new drivetrain, the all-new LEAF features the ProPILOT Assist driver assistance technology that can be used ruing single-lane highway driving and helps control acceleration, braking and steering. Another new driving technology featured in the LEAF is e-Pedal technology that lets drivers start, accelerate, decelerate and stop by increasing or decreasing the amount of pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is released, regenerative and friction brakes are applied automatically which brings the car to complete stop. In addition to the driver assist technologies, the new LEAF will feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as the updated EV specific NissanConnect EV and Services telematics.

It was also announced that starting for the 2019 model year, Nissan will be offering a higher power, longer range model of the LEAF at a higher price point. The 2018 version of the LEAF goes is slated to go on sale in North American in early 2018.
