2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to Introduce Several Levels of Towing Features

Chevrolet has announced that they will be introducing several levels of towing features to improve trailering experiences, including the myChevrolet mobile app trailering capability which is included on all light-duty Silverado models and the option to add the Advanced Trailer System which does include access to the system in-vehicle. Additionally, the Trailering Camera Package works in conjunction with both of these technologies and is able to provide a more comprehensive trailer view. Chevrolet will also be assisting in taking out the guesswork of calculating the combined weight of the truck and trailer combination with an industry-first trailering label. Chevrolet will offer four different levels of trailering levels on the 2019 1500 which will provide users with easier trailer hitching and improved connectivity between the truck and trailer. The aforementioned myChevrolet app trailering for smartphones will offer select trailering features such as a pre-departure checklist and a glossary of towing terms. The app also allows users to perform a trailer light test that uses an automatic exterior light sequence to help confirm the trailer is connected, which can also be activated by the Advanced Trailering System. This system is for customers who tow more often and comes standard on the LTZ and High Country models and is an option on LT, RST and Trail Boss models. The system includes Auto Parking Brake Assist, Hitch Guidance with Hitch view and a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The system also comes with an app for the available Advanced Trailering System which allows users to track the mileage, fuel economy and transmission temperature of their truck whilst towing. The app further allows for the creation of up to five profiles for different trailer types. Brake gain memory is part of the system and works with the Integrated Trailer Brake Controller while the industry-first Trailer Theft Alert can activate the truck’s lights and horn if the harness of the trailer is disconnected. The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado will go on sale later on in the fall of this year.
