Mitsubishi Outland PHEV Set to Debut in Canada
Europe’s best-selling Plug-in Hybrid-Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is coming to Canada as the 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is set to arrive in December with an MSRP of $42,998. The Outlander PHEV is the world’s first plug-in hybrid crossover SUV and the only model with all-wheel drive in its class. It will be available in two well-equipped price lines and one package; SE S-AWC, SE S-AWC Touring Package and GT S-AWC and features a highly efficient 2.0L gas engine and two highly efficient electric motors which are mounted on the front and rear axles to supply torque on demand for an incredibly responsive performance. The Outlander PHEV is the only PHEV with DC fast charging capability which provides an 80% charge in less than 30 minutes and also features a front-mounted generator that converts mechanical power to electricity and continuously charges the drive battery while a Power Drive Unit helps convert the electric power and send it to the front motor. Due to the unique drivetrain of the Outlander PHEV the vehicle automatically selects one of three drivetrain modes for optimal performance and efficiency including EV Drive Mode, Series Hybrid Mode, and Parallel Hybrid Mode. Additionally the Outlander PHEV features a number of Safety and Technology features and is set to hit Canadian showrooms in December of this year.
