All-New Ford Ranger to Have Best-in-Class Payload, Gas Engine Torque and Towing Capability

As the all-new 2019 Ford Ranger nears production, Ford has announced that the mid-size pickup will deliver best-in-class payload, gas torque and towing capability. The standard 2.3L EcoBoost will produce 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque the latter of which is the most of any gas engine in the midsize pickup segment including some V6 offerings from other competitors. The engine will be paired to a class-exclusive 10-speed transmission which will greatly increase efficiency and provides a unique combination of power and capability. The Ranger is anchored by a high-strength steel frame and robust solid rear axle with Hotchkiss suspension and can tow 7,500 lbs. when equipped with the tow package and a trailer brake controller. The much-anticipated new truck is set to begin production later this year at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan.
