All-New TRD Special Edition Headlines 2019 Toyota 86 Lineup

Toyota has released details on the 2019 Toyota 86 lineup which is headlined by the addition of an all new TRD Special Edition model that features more aggressive performance and style. Each 86 model will be offered with a choice of either a manual or automatic six-speed transmission with the manual option providing 205 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque while the automatic transmission offers 200 and 151 respectively. Power is generated from a spirited Flat 4 Boxer engine which powers the rear wheels and is set further back in the chassis to allow for a lower, more aggressive hood design. The low stance is enhanced by a powerful front end design that features a wide grille and angular LED headlights while the low roofline also adds to its sleek profile. The body is built from highly rigid yet lightweight components with the goal of keeping total vehicle weight under 1,300 kg for an agile driving experience. The new model, called the Toyota 86 TRD Special Edition, is built off the manual transmission GT trim level and offers Brembo brakes, SACHS Dampers, a TRD performance dual exhaust and aero kit, plus unique 18-in. alloy wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. The new model will also offer a red-stitched interior with red seat belts plus TRD interior trim and badges. Production of the new model will be limited to only 50 units in Canada.
