Detroit Auto Show Moving to June Beginning in 2020

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which has traditionally taken place in January, have decided to change things up and will take place in June starting in 2020. Show organizers Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) have been contemplating the move for a while now and in doing so should save some money and will allow the participating brands to feature dynamic exhibits and other opportunities outside of the four walls of the show. This provides new avenues to showcase their products and technologies at what is one of the most influential global auto events each and every year. “Our ultimate goal is to provide an experience and opportunity for participating companies and attendees, that only Detroit can offer,” said Doug North, President of DADA. “June will allow us to better showcase the automotive leadership, development and heritage our great city and region holds.” Auto show dynamics are dramatically changing as of late as the auto industry undergoes its biggest shift in nearly a century and has led auto manufacturers to seek out increasingly creative ways to debut their new vehicles and engage with customers. The foundation of the show inside the Cobo Center in Detroit will continue with vehicles and innovative technologies being showcased while this transformation plan calls of growth in both branding and event opportunities at multiple venues throughout Detroit. The 2019 show will remain in January, beginning on the 14th and running to the 29th but the 2020 running of the show will begin on the week of June 8th.
