Ford’s Mustang is Now the Best-Selling Sports Car on the Planet
For the last 50 years or so, the Ford Mustang has been one of, if not the, best-selling sports car here in North American and now, according to Ford analysis of HIS Markit new vehicle registration data in the sports car segment, the Mustang is now the best-selling sports car on the entire planet. The Mustang sold over 150,000 units worldwide in 2016 with almost 45,000 of those being sold outside of the United States. The surge in sales has been largely attributed to big sales gains in the monstrous markets of Germany and China, with the latter seeing the Mustang become their best-selling sports car since its introduction to the Chinese market back in 2015. The Mustang is also the most-liked vehicle on Facebook with 8.4-million likes and is now available in 140 countries across all continents excluding Antarctica, and this year will see the 2018 Mustang expand to six new countries including Brazil, the Palu Islands and the Ivory Coast. The 2018 version of the Mustang receives a minor facelift with a new front and rear design and more advanced technologies.
