New 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty Offers Highest Torque Rating Ever

Ram has recently announced details for the 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty highlighted by the news that the truck will offer an astounding 930 lb-ft of torque out of the 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine, which is the highest ever rating for a pickup. This gives the truck the ability to tow up to 30,000 lbs. (13,608 kg) with a fifth-wheel hitch. Ram has worked closely with Cummins to improve the engine for 2018 with improvements including higher boost limits through a variable geometry turbo, and flow rate increases through the fuel delivery system to provide the additional 30 lb-ft of torque. The 30,000 lbs. fifth wheel towing rating is made possible by an in-house hitch design from Ram Engineering which will allow customers to move away from Class 4 and 5 trucks to haul trailers. The 3500 Heavy Duty boasts maximum gooseneck and conventional hitch trailer weight ratings for 2018 of 31,210 lbs and 20,000 lbs. respectively.
