State of Colorado Set to Pass Bill to Stop Diesel Trucks from “Rolling Coal”

According to a report from The Colorado Independent, the state of Colorado is set to pass a bill which would make the practice of “rolling coal”, which as you probably know is dumping fuel into the engine to produce a thick, black smoke out of the exhaust, a Class A traffic violation which would cost the violator $100. The report suggests that supporters of the proposed bill have pointed out that in order to blow the black smoke, exhaust equipment in diesel equipped vehicles must be intentionally and illegally modified which is a direct response to some Republicans who, in the past, have questioned proving intent. This currently have no bearing on those of us here in the Great White North as we currently have no such laws, but if passed this could be an indication of what could possibly happen down the road in the rest of the United States and here in Canada.
