New 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera T Unveiled

Porsche have decided to pay homage to the puristic 911 T model from 1968 by introducing the all-new 2018 911 Carrera T. The car will be lightweight, come with a manual transmission with a shorter constant transaxle ratio, and a standard mechanical rear differential lock all of which are meant to heighten performance and driving pleasure. The 911 Carrera T is also equipped with several performance enhancing features that are not available on the standard 911 Carrera including the PASM Sport Suspension with a 0.39-in. lower ride height, a shortened gear lever and optional rear-axle steering. Based on the 911 Carrera Coupe, the new model features unique design elements which work towards shedding weight and thereby increasing performance. The rear windshield and rear side windows are made of lightweight glass, and the door opener loops replace conventional door openers while the entire car itself weighs just 3,142 pounds making it the lightest model in the 911 Carrera range.

The exterior design cues for the Carrera T are meant to underscore performance with items such as an aerodynamically optimized front spoiler lip that comes with the PASM Sport Suspension.  Inside takes a minimalist approach with the rear seats and infotainment/radio system delted. 4-Way adjustable Sport Seats Plus with embroidered 911 logos on the headrests are featured as is a leather steering wheel and shortened gear lever.

Under the hood of the 911 Carrera T is a twin-turbo 3.0L flat-six engine that produces 370 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque which, when paired to the manual transmission, allows the car accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds with a top speed of 182 mph (293 km/h). When paired to the optional PDK transmission, the Carrera T is able to reach 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds with a lower top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h).

The 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera T is available for ordering now and is expected to reach dealers by March 2018.
