Next Generation Chevrolet Silverado Unveiled at Centennial Event
In what was a surprise move, Chevrolet has revealed the next-generation 2019 Silverado at a recent press event at the Texas Motor Speedway. The event was being held to celebrate Chevrolet’s 100th anniversary of making trucks with the newest model building on the century of expertise. The 2019 Silverado is brand new from the ground up and features a refined, modernized look along with improved capability and performance. A higher-grade alloy is used in the roll-formed, high-strength-steel bed floor which allows the bed to be both more functional and lighter. The additional use of mixed material and advanced manufacturing is evident throughout the Silverado and results in a total vehicle weight reduction. In order to cater to a number of different types of truck customers, the next-generation Silverado will offer an expanded range of models with more engine/transmission combinations and more technology and convenience features that will help each customer find the right truck for them. The model shown at the Texas event was the new Silverado LT Trailboss which is one of eight models that will be available for 2019. The LT Trailboss integrates the off-road equipment of the Z71 package as well as a two-inch suspension lift. Not much else is currently known about the truck which is expected to make its public debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
