Ford have introduced their ST performance brand to its SUV lineup with the announcement of the upcoming 2019 Edge ST which will feature a powerful V6 engine that has been specially tuned to push out more horsepower and torque. The 2.7L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine pushes out 335 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Edge ST is also fitted for dynamic handling as it features standard all-wheel drive with selectable traction control, a performance brake package and an ST-tuned sport suspension. A new Sport Mode will be featured and provides drivers with a more aggressive throttle response, shifting patterns that keep the RPMs high going into corners, sharp engine braking and a more aggressive exhaust tone. To go along with the performance upgrades the Edge ST also receives some styling upgrades such as more aggressive front and rear fascias, a wide mesh grille which optimizes cooling, deep side skirts and a dual exhaust system. Unique 21-in. wheels are also available.
In addition to the new ST model, the new 2019 Edge has underwent a significant refresh for the new model year and comes standard with more driver-assist technology than any other midsize SUV. A few new technologies have been added to that standard list for 2019 including Post-Collison Braking, Evasive Steering Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go and Lane Centering.
The 2019 Ford Edge and Ford Edge ST are set to hit Ford dealerships across Canada this coming summer.
