All-New Hennessey Hypercar Unveiled at SEMA

Of the many amazing vehicle unveilings that took place at the recent 2017 SEMA Show, right up near the top of the list has to be the all-new Hennessey Venom F5 hypercar. The car was unveiled at the Shell “Pioneering Performance” experience at the show by John Hennessey himself. The car was designed and built from the ground up with the ultimate goal to be the fastest road car on earth. Hennessey and his design team have developed a completely new design, chassis and carbon fiber body that is focused on aerodynamics to achieve the lowest possible drag. In fact, the new F5 design features active aero that will yield a coefficient of drag of just 0.33. John Hennessey was quoted as saying that he hopes the F5 will “be the first road car capable of achieving more than 300 mph (483 km/h).” The Hennessey team is developing an all-new, twin turbo V8 engine that will deliver over 1600 bhp and will be paired to a 7-speed single clutch paddle shift transmission and delivering power to the rear tires. A new light weight chassis and all carbon fiber body will give the F5 a curb weight of just 2,950lbs. (1,338 kg). The combination of shear power and light weight design will allow for a new level of hypercar performance will acceleration from 0 to 300 km/h in less than 10 seconds which will be quicker than current Formula 1 cars. Base price for the new Venom F5 is set to be $1.6 million USD with just 24 examples being built.
