Canadian Truck Sales Strong in 2017

It appears that 2017 was a strong year for Canadian light truck sales, as most manufacturers experienced some growth with some even having their best years ever to date. For starters, it should come as no surprise that the Ford F-Series is the best-selling pickup in Canada for the 52nd consecutive year and the best-selling vehicle in Canada overall for the eighth consecutive year. Ford’s North American rival GM also experienced some truck sales success in 2017 with the Chevrolet Truck brand experiencing its best year in terms of sales since 1997 and the GMC brand experiencing its best year ever aided by Sierra and Canyon sales. Although FCA Canada saw an drop in overall sales, the Ram brand finished with a hat-trick of sales claims including the best sales year on record for the brand overall, the best year ever for pickup truck sales, and the Ram pickup being the second-highest selling vehicle in Canada for the year. For the 6th consecutive year, Toyota Canada reported its best year ever for truck sales with 136,586 vehicles sold which is up 6.2% from last year. Finally, Nissan also enjoyed some success when it comes to truck sales aided heavily by a completely refreshed and redone TITAN lineup that saw 5,692 full-size trucks sold which is a 109.7% increase over 2016.
