More Details Emerge as Hyundai Officially Unveils All-New Santa Fe
Earlier this year we showed you a few images and shared what little details we knew about the upcoming, all-new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. Since then Hyundai have officially unveiled the new SUV and with the announcement came more details and a full photo gallery. In addition to a new appearance, engine options and technology features, the standard-wheelbase Santa Fe will be dropping the Sport moniker that separated it from the larger, three-row Santa Fe XL and will be offering a 3rd row option itself with the XL carrying on in its current form until a replacement is announced. The fourth-generation Santa Fe connects with Hyundai’s new SUV-family look and provides a modern and elegant appearance, highlighted by the aggressive looking headlights and signature cascading grille. The exterior is further accentuated by a wide stance that is as powerful as it is athletic while the refined body lines of the vehicle leave no doubt as to which model is at the top of Hyundai’s SUV lineup. Inside of the new Santa Fe, legroom in the second row has been increased as has the headroom in the third row making it more suitable for adults to ride back there. The second row boasts a new one-touch folding feature that makes accessing the third row easier than ever. In addition, the larger exterior dimensions of the new Santa Fe have subsequently increased the cargo capacity as well. A new feature on the Santa Fe for 2019 will be the addition of the in-house developed HTRAC system which is based on four-wheel drive technology that variably controls the power of the wheels. The system is meant to improve a number of things including acceleration, stability and fuel efficiency while providing increased traction on snow, gravel or regular road surfaces. Three engine options will be offered in the new Santa Fe including an all-new, 2.2L turbodiesel four-cylinder engine that makes 200 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque and will be available only in models with the 3rd row option. The other options are carried over from the previous generation and include a 2.4L four-cylinder or a 2.0L turbocharged four. All engines will be paired to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the Santa Fe will offer or come standard with a number of comfort, safety and technology features including heads up display, wireless charging, rear occupant alert, and the Hyundai SmartSense suite of safety features just to name a few. Production has begun now with sales beginning globally throughout the year.
