Mercedes Introduces All-New AMG GT S Roadster
Mercedes have further expanded their sports car portfolio with the new AMG GT S Roadster, which slots in between the GT and GT C Roadster models and aligns the Roadster lineup with its Coupe counterpart. The new AMG GT S Roadster offers a lightweight aluminum spaceframe and an AM 4.0LV8 biturbo engine that produces an impressive 515 horsepower with 494 lb-ft. of torque which Mercedes says will spring from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 308 km/h. The engine puts power to the wheels through a AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G sport transmission in a transaxle arrangement, which along with the front mid-engine arrangement provides ideal driving dynamics at 47 (front) and 53 (rear) percent. The new model will be equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with adaptive damping adjustment as standard which adjust the damping at each wheel to the current requirements. This improves performance, driving safety and ride comfort. Also included is the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT controller which offers five drive modes to best fit your current driving situation including Comfort, Sport, Sport Plus, RACE and Individual. The settings adjust key parameters such as the engine and transmission response, accelerator characteristics, suspension, and AMG Performance exhaust flaps. In terms of appearance, the new model doesn’t deviate far from other vehicles in the AMG GT lineup, boasting a long hood and muscular rear end which lend themselves perfectly to the pure sports car look. Inside features a low seating position, sport seats, performance steering wheel, and the use of high quality materials throughout. The 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster is available to order now and will see deliveries begin in the fall.
