Porsche Expands the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman Model Lines with GTS Models

Porsche have recently announced that they will be expanding the mid-engine 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman model lines with all-new, performance-inspired GTS models. The GTS models will utilize the same 2.5L flat-four cylinder engine found in other 718 models but have used a newly developed intake plenum and optimized turbocharger to increase the power up to 365 horsepower. Like the other 718 models, the GTS models will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission but will also offer the lightning quick Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission. Other performance enhancing upgrades for the GTS models include Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including a mechanical rear-differential lock or the Sport Chrono Package as well as Porsche Active Suspension Management which reduces the ride height by 0.39-in. when compared to other Boxster and Cayman models. In addition to the increased horsepower, the 718 GTS models will offer maximum torque of up to 317 lb-ft when equipped with the PDK transmission which is available across a broad power band from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm propelling the car from 0-60 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. In addition to performance upgrades, the GTS’ also include many visual differences such as a Sport Design front fascia, tinted front indicator lights and taillights, model designations in black, a black lower rear fascia, and matte black 20-in. wheels. Inside also features a few changes including standard Sport Seats Plus made from Alcantara, as are the steering wheel rim, centre console armrest and door armrests. The 2018 718 GTS models are expected to arrive at North American dealerships by March 2018.
