Readers Rides: 1978 GMC Sierra Classic

Ope Opolony of Edmonton, AB has owned his 1978 GMC Sierra Classic (nicknamed ‘Mater) for 10 years and although not originally planning to do so, he turned the truck into a complete frame-off rebuild. It now features a nitrous-fed 454 Chevrolet engine under the hood with a 3,000-stall Turbo 400 and a 12-bolt 3:73 Posi rear end. The truck handles great, is fairly easy to throw sideways and has surprised Ope with its drag strip performance. It has won numerous awards at shows, been featured on the cover of LMC Trucks magazine, and has even been featured on Discovery Channels All Girls Garage and Car Fix.
