Subaru have announced a number of enhancements and improvements to the BRZ lineup including an all-new performance-oriented version called the tS that will see just 100 units available for purchase in the Canadian market. Before we delve a little deeper on the new model, the BRZ has received other updates for 2018 including a new 7-in. infotainment system with GPS navigation with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, STARLINK smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity and a proximity key with push-button start. Four trims will be available for the BRZ including the aforementioned tS and the also-new Sport-tech RS that boasts SACHS dampers, performance Brembo brakes and 17-in. gunmetal grey alloy wheels. Now on to the tS, this stands for Tuned by STI, which has been tuned for track use and offers increased control, improved stability and great flexibility all of which contribute to even more fun behind the wheel than the entry-level BRZ. The limited-edition still features the same horizontally opposed, 4-cylinder, 2.0L DOHC Subaru BOXER engine that produces 205 horsepower and 156 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. From there, the BRZ tS offers many exclusive features both in terms of performance and appearance such as flexible draw stiffeners added to the chassis and sub-frame to increase the overall stiffness which is ideal for high speed situations. Exclusive SACHS dampers and coil springs are added for even better handling, while the black, lightweight 18-in. alloy wheels wrapped in exclusive 215/40R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 high performance tires are exclusive only to the tS. An exclusive front under-spoiler is featured to reduce lift while an adjustable large dry carbon rear wing is featured which allows you to choose between two positions for the ultimate rear downforce. Red accents are used both inside and out including front and rear bumper accents, grille accents, interior stitching, and exclusive red coloured seat belts. If you wish to get your hands on one of the 100 examples that will be sold in Canada, pricing starts at $37,395 for the tS which is nearly a $10,000 increase from the entry-level BRZ.
