Audi Reveals New A7 Sportback

Audi have recently unveiled the new 2018 A7 Sportback which represents the new Audi design language and is billed as a four-door coupe due to its dynamic lines and progressiveness in both design and technology. The new design language was first debuted on the new A8 and is further carried on by the new A7 Sportback which features a Singleframe grille, narrow headlights, contoured air inlets and a flat front end. The long engine hood, long wheelbase and short overhangs give the car a bold, athletic shape while the rear end  further adds to that notion with a tapered off design that is reminiscent of a yacht.

The inside of the new A7 Sportback features a futuristic atmosphere with a center console that is oriented toward the driver which underlines the sporty character of the car. The 10.1-in. upper display features black panel optics and is framed in a graphite gray aluminum clasp that almost disappear into the dashboard when the vehicle is off. As with the A8, the A7 has Audi’s new MMI touch response operating concept replacing the rotary pushbutton and conventional buttons of the previous model with two large, HD touch displays.

All engines used in the A7 Sportback come standard with a new mild hybrid system (MHEV) which uses a 48-volt primary electrical system and a belt alternator starter that works with a lithium-ion battery which can achieve a recuperation performance of up to 12 kW when braking. The car will initially launch with the 3.0L V6 TFSI engine that produces 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque paired to a seven-speed S tronic transmission and a Quattro all-wheel drive system. It is expected that additional four- and six- cylinder engines both gasoline and diesel will become available shortly after the start of production.

Audi have designed the chassis and suspension setups to be dynamic and agile on twisty country roads yet comfortable and smooth during long highway stretches. The optional dynamic all-wheel steering certainly follows that criteria as do the four suspension options which include; a conventional steel spring suspension, the sport suspension that lowers ride height by 10mm, an electronically controlled damping system and the self-leveling adaptive air suspension.

The A7 Sportback is expected to hit Audi showrooms in early 2018.
