BMW Announces All-New 2018 X2 Crossover

BMW have announced their newest addition to the BMW X family with the all-new 2018 X2 that boasts a unique design language with the low slung proportions of a couple with the robust construction of a BMW X model. The X2 shares the same wheelbase as the existing X1 but is 3.2-in. shorter and 2.8-in. lower overall, giving it a more muscular look and short overhangs with a coupe-style roofline. The BMW X2 xDrive28i will be available at launch and will be powered by the latest 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that develops 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine features a TwinScroll turbocharger, high precision direct injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve lift and is paired to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. When the M Sport X package is added, a Sport Automatic Transmission is featured which produces faster upshifts and downshifts and adds steering wheel mounted paddle shifters. The compact, low-weight XDrive all-wheel drive system distributes power between the front and the rear axle as the situation requires. The interior of the X2 boasts high-class quality withan impressive level of equipment in even the standard version, and provides a generous amount of cargo capacity with a large trunk for a vehicle of its type and a door design with large pockets and additional storage compartments. The X2 carries on the practicality and sportiness of the rest of the X family and will come available at local BMW dealerships starting in the Spring of 2018.
