BMW Officially Launches the All-New 4th Generation 2019 BMW X5
BMW has announced the official release of the all-new 4th generation, 2019 X5 Sports Activity Vehicle that will be offered in two variants; the X5 xDrive 40i and the X5 xDrive 50i. The original X5 was introduced nearly 20 years ago and have sold over 2.2 million examples worldwide. The new X5 will feature a longer wheelbase than its predecessor with a 36 mm increase in vehicle width, a 66 mm increase in width and a 19 mm height increase all of which will provide a larger, more muscular appearance and provide more space for passengers and cargo. As could be expected, the front end still features the classic BMW kidney grille appearance with new standard Adaptive LED headlights with BMW Laserlights being offered as an option. The X5 lineup will be further differentiated by the xLine and M Sport model variants which feature different exterior features such as wheels, kidney grille bars, bumper trim and wheel arch trim. Inside of the new X5 is a modern and elegant interior design with the use of high quality materials throughout. The xLine and M Sport models further differentiate themselves inside with the M Sport model of course featuring a sporty steering wheel, pedals and drivers foot rest. A new four zone air conditioning system and a Panoramic glass roof are featured as are standard ambient lighting, optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System with 20 speakers and 1,500 watt output. Other interior features include a pair of 12.3-in. digital displays; one used as an instrument cluster display and the other centre mounted to control the cars infotainment system. Under the hood of the new X5 is a choice of two new gasoline engines. In the top of the line X5 xDrive50i, a new 4.4L TwinPower Turbo V8 that makes an impressive 456 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque with a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.7 seconds. The X5 xDrive 40i will boast the new 3.0L TwinPower Turbo Straight-six engine that produces 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. Both engines will be paired to an improved version of the eight-speed Steptronic transmission that now features a wider ratio spread and new control electronics to help increase the overall efficiency. A large number of safety and technology features are offered on the new X5 as well which is expected to go on sale in November of this year with pricing information to be revealed closer to that date.
