AJAC Announces the 2019 Canadian Car and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year Award Winners

AJAC (Automobile Journalists Association of Canada) today announced the Kia Stinger as the 2019 Canadian Car of the Year and the Jaguar I-Pace as the 2019 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year at the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. The two vehicles were named winners following months of testing and evaluation on roads across the country, in a number of conditions by nearly 70 of the country’s most-esteemed automotive journalists. The winners were chosen following two rounds of voting scored anonymously on many different factors such as performance, technology, design, value and others. The two winning vehicles beat out 55 entries with the data being collected from more than 1,500 ballots. “It gives us great pride to declare the Kia Stinger to be the Canadian Car of the Year, and the Jaguar I-Pace to be the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, for 2019,” said AJAC President Mark Richardson. “AJAC journalists are among the most objective and discerning automotive professionals in the country, and the fact that these two vehicles have risen to the top of our vigorous testing and voting protocol means that they’re truly among the best available to Canadian buyers.”

AJAC’s Canadian Car of the Year for 2019, the Kia Stinger, was named Best Large Car earlier this year and is a true grand touring sedan loaded with great luxury and safety features and has been seen as a major step forward for Kia since its arrival. “Winning AJAC’s Car of the Year award for the Stinger is a great honour for everyone within the Kia family,” said Michael Kopke, Director of Marketing, Kia Canada. “As a young brand that has come a long way in 20 years here in Canada, we’re grateful to all of AJAC’s voting journalists for taking the time to review our vehicles and recognizing the quality that our brand has put so much focus on.” In addition to this award, the new Kia Forte was also recognized previously as AJAC’s Best Small Car in Canada for 2019.
