BMW Introduces All-New 3-Series
BMW have unveiled the all-new, seventh-generation BMW 3-Series which is both longer and wider than its predecessor and features a plethora of new features. The car doesn’t stray too far away from the previous model in terms of appearance but does feature new more angled headlights, a new front bumper, and the character line now runs from the top of the front wheel well to the back of the taillights. We here in Canada will get the 330i xDrive model first which features a new 2.0L turbocharged inline 4-cylinder which delivers 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The model is expected to arrive at dealerships by March of 2019 with more variety being added throughout 2019 including a 6-cylinder variant of the 330i, BMW eDrive technology, a BMW M Performance version and finally a BMW iPerformance model by 2020. The performance version will arrive by summer 2019 in the form of the M340i and M340i xDrive sedans which will feature a new inline-six, M Performance chassis tuning, xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive and standard M Sport rear differential. The straight-six engine will produce 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque with an impressive 0-100 km/h time of just 4.2 seconds. Back to the 330i, it will feature the 8-speed Steptronic transmission as standard that will feature shorter gearing for lower ratios to boost the acceleration of the new sedan while the 8HP 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission will provide even short shift times and a Launch Control function. Shift paddles on the steering wheel allow you to be in full control as well. The new 3-Series will feature a full suite of technology and features including Adaptive M Suspension, lightweight construction, variable sport steering, a sporty yet luxurious high quality interior and the new Intelligent Personal Assistant. This feature is an intelligent, digital character that responds when you say “Hey BMW” out loud and will allow you to operate the car and access its functions simply by speaking. The range of functions and skills available will be constantly expanded as part of regular updates. An example given by BMW included the driver simply being able to say “Hey BMW, I’m cold” which will then prompt the Intelligent Personal Assistant to adjust the temperature inside the car accordingly.
More information regarding the all-new 2019 BMW 3-Series will be released as we get closer to the March 2019 launch date.
