Lamborghini Debuts First SUV for the First Time on North American Soil
Lamborghini used the North American International Auto Show in Detroit to reveal their all-new Urus SUV for the very first time on North American soil. Lamborghini is calling the Urus the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle and it’s hard to argue when you look at the power numbers. Under the hood of the Urus is a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that produces 650 horsepower and 627 ft.-lb. of torque which can propel the SUV from 0-100 km/h (0-60mph) in just 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h. An AWD system with active torque vectoring puts the power to the wheels and four-wheel steering is featured in order to achieve near perfect handling. The Carbon ceramic brakes are able to bring the Urus to a very quick stop, even at high speeds and an adaptive air suspension system with active roll stabilization provide the maximum in both performance and comfort. In addition to its monstrous power numbers, the Urus is meant to be as much a luxury SUV as it is a performance one. It offers a luxurious interior with all of the latest technology and driver assist features and a very comfortable ride when a more comfort-oriented driving mode is selected with the Tamburo driving dynamics selector. In terms of exterior styling, the Urus features a low-line coupe style that provides many of Lamborghini’s classic styling cues but in the form of an SUV. Pricing information has not been made official, but a starting figure of $200,000 was thrown around during the unveiling which would equal about $300,000 for those of us in Canada. It is expected that the Urus will hit Canadian shores sometime later this year.
