AJAC Announces the Winners of the 2018 Canadian Car and 2018 Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) have announced the winners of the 2018 Canadian Car of the Year and 2018 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year awards at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto. The Honda Accord was named the Canadian Car of the Year while the Chrysler Pacifica Minivan was named the top Canadian Utility Vehicle for 2018. These awards are Canada’s highest automotive accolades and were determined following a year of testing and two rounds of voting by nearly 100 voting member of AJAC. The members tested the vehicles throughout the year in a variety of different conditions with each vehicle be scored on many different factors including performance, features, technology, design, fuel consumption and value. From there, the highest scoring vehicles in each of the 14 recognized categories were named the category winners and thus, were in the running for these prestigious awards. The 14 winners were voted on again by AJAC members, but this time were critiquing more subjective qualities such as comfort, convenience and practical performance. The Honda Accord entered the running for Car of the Year after beating out the Mazda6 and Toyota Camry to be named the Best Large Car award winner. The Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year, Chrysler’s Pacifica, was named the winner of the Best Minivan award beating out the Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona.
