Aston Martin Reveals All-New DBS Superleggera Grand Tourer

Aston Martin has revealed their all-new DBS Superleggera that they are calling a Super GT car which features the return of two legendary nameplates; DBS and Superleggera. The DBS is an iconic nameplate that first appeared back in 1967 and returned for a flagship car back in 2007 while Superleggera was first featured on the DB4 and referred to the lightweight frame that was built for the car by Carrozzeria Touring out of Italy. The new DBS Superleggera utilizes sculpted carbon fibre body panels and features a muscular appearance that is like nothing else. The car replaces the Vanquish S and features a 5.2L V12 engine that produces an astonishing 725 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. This allows the car to go from 0-100km/h in just 3.4 seconds, 160 km/h in 6.4 seconds and a total top speed of 342 km/h. The DBS Superleggera features innovative aerodynamic concepts that were first seen on the DB11 such as curlicue and Aeroblade and adds even more including an F1-inspired double diffuser. This allows the DBS Superleggera to generate 180kg of downforce at VMAX which is the highest figure ever for a production Aston Martin. The engine puts power to the wheels through a new rear mounted ZF eight-speed automatic transmission while a mechanical limited-slip differential and torque vectoring provide precise and predictable handling. The chassis is made from lightweight bonded aluminum and features forged double wishbones at the front and a sophisticated multi-link system at the rear. Additionally, adaptive damping comes standard with sensors detecting driving conditions as well as the what the driver is currently doing. Both the powertrain and the chassis will offer a choice of three dynamic modes which can be selected by the driver to intensify or relax DBS Superleggera’s responses. No Canadian pricing information has yet been announced, but in the US you can have a DBS Superleggera for a modest $304,995. Deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2018.
