Audi Launches the All-New Coupe-Like Q8 SUV
It what appears to be somewhat of a growing trend, especially among many of the luxury brands, Audi have revealed the all-new Q8 which they say combines the elegance of a coupe with the functionality of an SUV. The five passenger SUV features design cues from the original Audi UR Quattro and introduces the brand’s new SUV design language for both the interior and exterior. An octagonal, single frame grille is used and partners with high contoured air inlets to give the SUV a commanding presence. A sloping roofline is featured with lends itself to the coupe-like design and the large wheel arches honour Audi’s Quattro DNA. The Q8 is both wider and lower than the Q7 and offers an even more spacious interior with seating for five passengers and a generous amount of room for cargo. The cabin features an all-new MMI touch response display that utilizes two screens; a larger 10.1-in. one on top that controls the infotainment and navigation, and a smaller 8.6-in. screen below that runs the climate and convenience functions. A flat menu structure is featured and can be easily personalized using configurable and movable ‘favourites’ buttons. The Q8 will come standard with Quattro all-wheel-drive with a mechanical centre differential that transfers power to the front and rear axle at a standard ratio of 40:60 but can also transfer majority of the power to the axle with better traction at the time. Adaptive damping suspension comes standard while adaptive air suspension that enables various suspension and damping combinations that make up the Audi drive select modes is optional. The Audi Q8 is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2018.
