Lexus Announces Refresh of RC Luxury Sports Coupe

Lexus have announced a refresh of the RC luxury sports coupe and although they are calling it a new version, it’s really more of a mid-cycle refresh of the model introduced back in 2014. The new RC will retain the same overall look and functionality of the current model but adds the brand’s new signature design language and sharpened driving dynamics first established by the brand’s flagship LC coupe. A new front bumper is featured as are new vertically arranged triple LED headlamps and L-shaped LED clearance lamps, giving the car an even classier appearance. Air ducts have been added to the RC’s rear bumpers which will result in better handling stability while its wider stance and lower centre of gravity will allow it to even better retain grip even in tough cornering situations. The RC F Sport receives the grille mesh pattern as well as other custom exterior and interior items that are exclusive to F-Sport including 19-in. alloy wheels. Inside of the new RC is what Lexus is calling a ‘Hairline’ treatment which has been applied to the heater control panel and audio panel and results in a higher sense of quality. In terms of performance upgrades, new shock absorbers will be utilized and the throttle response of the turbocharged 3.0L engine has been enhanced to deliver a more direct feeling of acceleration. The 2019 Lexus RC series goes on sale this fall.
