Lamborghini Unveils the World’s First Super Sport Utility Vehicle
Lamborghini have recently announced the launch of its third model; the Lamborghini Urus SUV which the company bills as the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle. The Super SUV boasts a rare combination of luxury SUV practicality and sports car dynamism that is rarely seen, and features a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that delivers 650 horsepower and 627 lb-ft. of torque. This allows the Urus to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 12.8 seconds with a top speed of 305 km/h. The exterior of the Urus features coupe-like styling that has taken cues from the LM002 and has adopted the two-thirds body, one-third window ratio of Lamborghini super sports cars. Inside of the Urus is a luxurious interior that offers the unmistakable Lamborghini design, and features a heavily driver-focused cockpit. The driver and front passenger sit in front DNA memory sports seats that are fully electric, heated and 12-way adjustable. The aforementioned twin-turbo V8 powertrain is paired to an automatic 8-speed transmission which is tuned to provide very short low gear ratios and longer high gears. Power is put to the wheels through a four-wheel drive system and also featured is active torque vectoring via a rear differential. Also included for the Urus is the rear-wheel steering system that was adopted in the Aventador S, which sees the rear-axle steering angle opposite to the front wheels at low speeds while at high speeds the rear axle steering angle is in the same direction as the front wheels. Additionally, the adaptive air suspension system enables the Urus to be raised or lowered according to road and driving conditions, while the Tamburo driving mode selector allows driver to choose the best setting for their current situations.
