New Ford Transit Connect Wagon Features a New Look and Engine Options

Ford has rolled out the latest version of its Transit Connect Wagon which somewhat bridges the gap between the traditional minivan and the large number of commercial vans available. The 2019 Transit Connect Wagon offers seating for up to seven passengers but is still very able to be very easily switched to maximize cargo space. In addition to a new look, the vehicle is also offering two new engine options, including a diesel version, and new driver-assist technologies. At the top of the list for the new driver assist features is the standard Automatic Emergency Braking which is included with the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection to help avoid collisions of any sort. Other available safety features include Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and a Lane Keeping System. The Transit Connect Wagon is offered in only the longer wheelbase version here in Canada and, as previously mentioned, can carry up to seven passengers in three different trim levels including XL, XLT and Titanium. Dual sliding doors make getting yourself or cargo in and out of the back a breeze, while available roof rails allow you to haul larger items such as bikes, kayaks, paddle boards or luggage. A new instrument panel features an available 6.5-in. floating screen and will soon offer Waze compatibility to identify troublesome traffic locations. FordPass Connects’s 4G embedded modem provides Wi-Fi for up to 10 devices and the available SYNC 3 infotainment system. Under the hood is the choice of two powertrains; an all-new 1.5L EcoBlue diesel engine or an also-new 2.0L four-cylinder gas engine, both of which are paired to an all-new 8-speed auto transmission. In terms of cargo area in the back, with the middle row folded down and the 3rd row removed, the Transit Connect Wagon offers more interior cargo volume than a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe. Finally, the Transit Connect Wagon is expected to offer 2,000 lbs. of towing capability and will be on sale in the fall of this year.
